I used to own the handheld it is much better. Oh yeah, I forgot you mentioned that before. Might get one some time. Was the TV out at least decent with the handheld?

When I had the handheld I never tried the tv out as I bought it used from eBay and it didn't come with the av out lead, it LCD on the handheld is decent but I can't imagine it would look much good on a LCD TV? Might be ok on CRT.

Ah, I use a small LCD TV so it might look somewhat decent on it I guess.

Hey all just ordered my neo x today with the mega pack and revision 500a. On the megadrive side of things unlike the neo geo x all of these megadrive things the sound is really off, I'm not a hater I have a complete mega cd (Sega cd) collection inc back ups that play if anyone wants any games I'll do it for the price of a cd and postage. But my opinion will save you all the agro don't bother megadrives are cheap enough to buy with an rgb scart for the price of one of these and unlike out beloved neo x gold no updates ever! Avoid them all! Buy a mark 1 Sega megadrive va6 board if you can. But all mark ones have better sound and picture out put then the model twos . Look forward to meeting you all on here Ben.W UK England.

The thing about the handheld that makes it quite interesting though is the SD card slot that allows you to add pretty much all the Genesis games you'd want. Though it would be nice to have actual hardware. I've never had a Genesis. I can't make up my mind. haha...Btw, welcome to the forum.

Not that cheap, but cheaper than buying dozens of games.

I've never heard of that Everdrive thing. Sounds cool. I was thinking of getting model 3 mainly because of space issues, and I don't really need compatibility for 32x and Sega CD.

Everdrive is a great thing to have. SD card in a Megdrive cart = profit. You get all the convenience of Rom access, on top of playing on original hardware! It's a pretty solid win for space reasons.

Interesting. I was looking that up and I also learned of another similar cartridge called the "Firecore Passport". It's for Firecore-based Genesis consoles like the one from ATgames.
Anyway, I'm thinking of getting a Genesis 3 and the 6-Pak cartridge (Sonic, Streets of Rage, Golden Axe, Revenge of Shinobi, Super Hang-On, Columns) for a starter. I didn't even know that cartridge existed until recently. haha.

Please take my advice get a model 1 it has the best option for picture and sound quality a model 3 won't run an rgb scart as well if at all. plus should you choose to add to your collection no Sega cd support that's a bad combo . Plus all megadrive games work on any region so the 6 in one pack has a release in the pal region called mega games they did three mega games vol 1-3 and about 4-5 6 in one packs! Shipping from England isn't expensive on games. I got a few genesis only games from the states but I'm happy to help from across the pond in sourcing you some games .

I'm not really too picky with picture and sound quality. As long as it's decent, I'll be fine. haha. I was also taking into consideration some space issues, which is why I'm thinking of getting the smaller model 3. I don't really need Sega CD and 32x expansions either, so that's not a big deal to me. Thanks for the info though.

The handheld is great, just get all the roms and your good to go. Also you might want to check out the Game Gadget this plays megadrive games whole lot better, with decent sound too and plays final fight arcade perfect. Just the video out on TV is not working for me.
