As a Neo Geo X owner I obviously have a soft spot for poorly emulated retro gaming *cough, cough*, so I decided to buy one of these to add to my collection of cheapo rom boxs, the great thing about it is it has a sd card slot so you can add as many roms as you like. Apparently the stick is decent quality and emulation is pretty good, I'll post some impressions when it arrive and I've had a chance to play around with it We all love the the megadrive right?

Hehe. Interesting. I really like Streets of Rage 2. That stick looks like it would be nice for Street Fighter II.

Looks pretty awesome...let us know how it plays and if the sound is emulated correctly.

Will do, from what I've read the sound is a bit off as with all of these chip based megadrive things. I'm not overly concerned as long as it plays well. Will update.

I was looking at the portable one with Street Fighter. That has 80 games, though half of them are weird mini-game type things.

I had one of those, the Blaze version in the UK which is exactly the same thing, they are pretty good, funstock have new ones for £40 at the momment and they hook up to your TV too. I did consider buying another myself but the arcade masters are £23 new on ebay at the momment. If its got an SD card slot what games it comes with pre loaded is a moot point as you it's very easy to drag and drop your own roms.

Cool. I don't think you could save with those though. If that's true, I guess I won't really get to play an RPG like Phantasy Star IV unless I play for about 40 hours straight. LoL!

It's probably available online. I was thinking of getting the portable one. You can connect it to TV (AV cable is not included though) and it has the SD card slot for additional games as well. Reviews for it seem to be mostly good, though common complaints are that the sound is a bit off and that there is no save feature. Also, 40 of the 80 built-in games aren't actual Genesis games, just some weird homebrew mini-games of some sort.

That might be interesting to play Streets of Rage with. On a stick, I mean. I might grab the Genesis collection for my PS3 to give that a go! Damn I love Streets of Rage. No collection ever seems to have my other fave Genesis games, though! Castlevania: Bloodlines, Cyborg Justice, TMNT Hyperstone Heist, and Ghostbusters to name a few! To be fair, of those alone, there's a lot of licensing red tape, I'd imagine e. Except Cyborg Justice.

I don't get why Sega doesn't make any more Streets of Rage games. It's like they just forgot about the series.
I wish Nintendo would license some devices for NES and SNES too, but I guess that won't happen any time soon since they still make consoles. These Sega Genesis stuff is pretty interesting though.

Okay, so I had a play with this yesterday, and I'm sorry to say I can't recommend it. It's a really nice stick actually, very well made, plays nicely, unfortunately it looks just terrible on my LCD TV via composite (the only connection option on the arcade master) plus it's running at 50hz so the games are running slightly slower than full speed, (something old school gamers in 'PAL' land will be very familiar with) the fact my TV supports 60hz NTSC also make no difference, sound is a little off and also slowed down. Roms are easy to load, but overall it's not great, not sure if I'm going to keep it or not tbh? Running it though a VCR with a decent comb filter (which I don't own) would improve picture quality as it does on the NGX but believe me, picture is much, much worse than the NGX. I might buy a cheap composite to HDMI scaler if I keep it, but overall it a piece of crap. You'd be better off buying an old megadrive.

Sorry to hear that. It's too bad you can't use the stick for other stuff. I think the handheld might be better though emulation-wise without the slowdown. At least that's what I've seen with the reviews I've checked out. I believe the black and blue one is the 3rd and latest version of the portable.
