With v500a I finally feel like I am playing on real Neo hardware. It is absolutely fantastic! Sound and graphics are amazing. While screen tearing is still there it is greatly improved and I hardly ever notice it. Oversaturated red is gone. Muted colors are gone. Color bleeding is gone. Shaky picture is gone. I cannot emphasize the following enough...run your x through a vcr and you will be very pleased with composite out to crt.

Do you have to update the NGX before using it??what would people like to see in the next update?ive heard there isn't blood in alot of games(metal slug) so that would be nice.do you think it's possible for Tommo/SNK to eventualy release a update that will eventually make the software nay on perfect both on hand held and through TV be it crt or LCD?

I do not even notice any tearing on CRT. I tried to re install the old firmware 500 to test some of the games for blood effects, but the system already states updated. Some of the fighters have blood. Tommo and Snk have done a good job, bring on Mega Pack 2.

Is it just poor emulation that makes it look bad through HDMI on LCD then?do you think that this problem with LCD will be resolved with maybe another update??i have a small old tv in the bedroom so I may hook it up through that and move the Dreamcast downstairs.

It looks great on a 20"lcd. On a 55" lcd it looks like busted ass. These games were not made for lcd tvs. On a small lcd it looks good though.

By the sounds of it then I'm probably better hooking it up to my small CRT TV upstairs rather than the main 38" LCD. ill probably try it on both first though to be honest. Thanks for the info though.

Definitely try both. I've had varying results from TV out. My 27" CRT, good times. Picture was a little darker than I'd like but, meh. There's TV settings for that. My 32" LCD (toshiba), Not bad picture, but not as good as my crt. Interestingly, I get no input lag from the joystick. Not even a little bit! I've also tried a few other LCDs, a 40" samsung in which it looked awful, but still no input lag, and a 50" LG, where it was actually clean, but input lag made it unplayable. Don't forget to set your picture to 4:3!

I bought a 20" lcd just to play my X on when I had v500. Input lag was awful. Emerson brand. I sold it. CRT all the way now. Danthor u need a vcr to boost your signal. Get one from a thrift store if u need to.

I thought that was only for v500, or are they the same thing?
