So I purchased a ProCard from omgsnk/omgngx and after following the tutorials for loading the jailbreak firmware onto my sd card my NGX says faulty game card. I am running imagewriter and selecting the hack_image_v0.3_800M file to load on the sd card, it writes it and then when i pop the micro sd card into the ProCard and do the update firmware process my NGX just says game card fault. Am I missing a step or anything? My NGX is at 500A, not sure if that is anything.

Are you using a 2gb card for the firmware.

I've had that ImageWriter tool corrupt more than one micro sd card of mine as well (there's even a warning about this before you flash). Try a differnt micro sd card if you can, and also try the black vinyl stickers I include (to make your micro sd card a bit thicker to ensure good contact with the adapter). People have reported this error with other card types including the NGX Tools as well as the X-Card (which are both factory made cards).
Generally, the NGX will not recognize the card at all if there were ANY fault with sd adapter, the fact that it initially recognizes it leads me to think that it's most likely a contact issue with the micro sd. Some of the cheaper manufacturers make the micro sd cards thinner than others, which could result in poor contact with (all) adapters such as these - which is why I include 2 high quality black vinyl stickers (same vinyl used for wrapping cars) to be applied to a micro sd card that might be too thin.

I am using a 8gb card. I will try to find another Card and those vinyl stickers. I will report back later.
Update: both of my 8gb cards don't wanna work, even with the vinyl stickers. Gonna try to conjure up a 2gb card and see if it works.
Update 2: tried a 3rd 8gb card, no dice. tried a 4gb card and still nothing. Still get game card fault. It still flashes blue rapidly then goes to flashing blue and red and then the screen displays game card fault.
Update 3: Format the 4gb card as FAT instead of FAT32, got to the update screen where it shows jailbreak. then after about 2 minutes it goes "Caution Upgrade Problem Incorrect File!"
Update 4: Okay so i got the jailbreak to install. I think it was the rocket cable not being in just right. so now my firmware shows v0.3-40-g57b0f35 but now it wont play my megapack vol 1 card. is that a side effect of jailbreaking?

I am happy to hear that you got your jailbreak to install, the downside to the jailbreak is that official games such as the Megapack will no longer work. The bright side is that you can have the entire Neo-Geo collection on a single 8gb card! Who needs the Megapack? It is actually POSSIBLE to rewrite compatible versions of the Megapack games back onto the original card (that CAN be read by the jailbreak), however, when you can have ALL the games on a single 8gb, why bother?

My new problem now is my NGX wont start the ProCard with my roms on it. Just shows a Neo Geo game card icon.

Simple fix! What you need, is to drop this onto your microSD; docs.google.com/file/d/0BxuWoD2S8O8yTV8wTE9HWE1ldjQ/editThat puts the proper file heirarchy together for you, then just drop the roms in the appropriate folder. Also worth mentioning, you CAN delete folders that you aren't using emulators for. Example. Not using the GBA emulator? Delete the folder! Less to scroll through. Where I'm only using my NGX for Neo needs, I've deleted everything not Neo, works like a charm.

Dumb question.
Since I am on 500a jailbreak, do i still need to use convertx for the roms with unibios? or do i just drop the roms into the folder as is? (zip files or unzip as mvs/aes)

Yup! You still need to convert them, then rename them to .aes or .mvs files.

I tried blazing star and the game loads then goes to a black screen and then it goes to the ngx main menu. Does that mean the game doesn't work or I converted it wrong? Sorry for all these questions. Total noob here but I appreciate the help! If possible can someone just hook me up with a complete converted Rom set for 500a jailbreak?

It might mean a bad conversion. Try naming it in the opposite format, I had to do that with the Last Blade titles. Example, I had lastblad.aes on the card, would not boot. Changed to lastblad.mvs and it worked. When you're converting ROMs, check the dump readout. Like when its converting, you'll see things like;
Loading bios......OK Loading grafx.....OK
So on and so forth. If you spot any one of those entries that for example reads like;
Loading bios.....missing file
Then you've made an incomplete conversion that will be recognized by your NGX, but won't boot under any circumstances, as its missing info needed to work!

Yeah, setting up the ROMs is the hardest part... there is a download on the neogeoxjailbreakhack facebook page that has alot of working MVS roms. I don't want to link to it directly here, you should see it there though.

So I got Blazing Star to load (think it was a bad rom) but it looks like it has graphical problems...for example when the game loads it doesn't show the NeoGeo banner, the title doesn't show and the ships don't show, just text shows up. UniBios says region Europe at start up also. Any thoughts?
I just need a damn good tutorial on converting roms over and not looking at google translated broken english.
Could someone just upload a personal completed converted romset (the one on that facebook page wont let me download) to like google drive or Mega and PM me the link lol, this getting annoying.

Yup, thats EXACTLY what happens when using a "bad" ROMset... it's not about converting them correctly or not, it's about FINDING the ROMsets out there that WILL convert correctly. Unfortunately, there are alot of different NG ROMsets on the web and there isn't a good "perfect working collection" that can be obtained in one shot at the moment. Hopefully the community will sort this out (soon) and we'll have access to a perfect UniBIOS collection of ROMs. Believe me, the frustration you are feeling (in regards to finding working games) has been felt by every member here.

Ugh lol it's just so annoying. Maybe we should just start our own unibios set. Do you have a collection of roms that are known to be good/converted?
