hey fellow babies, previous thread got axed because of unsuccessful attempts and some instructional problems.
but i just now got it to work, so here's my steps and findings.
the methods in the previous thread were actually correct, but a few crucial settings were omitted.
here's a copy and paste from the previous thread:
- Install a clean 4 GB micro SD card into the NGX's internal socket
- Download the modified firmware image (no ROMs are included) from here: FW IMAGE
- Download and install the flasher: FLASHER
This will only work on a 32bit Winxp or 32bit Win7 setup.
Keep in mind that this will only work on the 337 version of the system (with the internal micro SD card socket). 370 units have been bricked trying this mod (probably because the modified firmware is more than 2 GB).
- Open device manager in windows to see when the device is detected
- With the NGX powered off, press and hold the start button and plug the NGX into your computer
- An unknown JZ4770 boot device will show up in the device manager
- Manually install the drivers that are in the RAR
- Unplug the NGX
- Start USBbootTool.exe
- With the ngx powered off, press and hold the start button and plug the NGX back into your computer again
at this point, are my results:
the following picture comes from the chinese thread where this mod was originally found, though keep in mind this picture was originally referring to the DINGUX mod, these steps still worked for me.
just like the above picture highlights:
-cpu drop down menu set to "Jz4770"
-check the option for "NAND (chinese text)"
-choose "NAND flash" instead of sd/mcc card
-select your image file
-check uboot.bin (once you select the img file, uboob.bin should already be checked automatically, but just in case)
flash process should start in a few seconds.
find below a screenshot of my results (if the image is too small, open the picture up in a new tab):
i started the process at around 1:43pm and ended a little bit before 1:58pm. after that it worked perfectly.
-system booted up with no problem, just like stock
-game icons were still there, though nothing happens when i choose any because there aren't any games in there
-AV works, USB stick works, ninja masters works
-press menu, still says fw 337
give it a try and be sure to post your results too! it worked for me and hopefully it can work for you!
with that said, anyone know where i can find the original 20 games?
