No, I was referring to the hacked 337 firmware's HDMI out. That is what the shots above are from. I have compared this to a 370 and can confirm that the overall video (even just on the handheld itself) is better on the 337. I have yet to compare it with a 500 firmware or even the new jailbroken one... however I wouldn't doubt if the jailbroken and 500 firmware's HDMI is at least as good as the modified 337's.

Even with the firmware upgrade the NGX is still outputting at 480 X 272, the original neo geo outputs at 320 X 224 this 337 hack corrects that resulting in a smaller but correct image, which will look better. As I understand it this is what causes the screen tearing on the NGX.

Screen tearing is simply a VSYNC problem and has nothing to do with the small resolution difference. They simply don't have VSYNC enabled in the emulator.

As I understand it this is what causes the screen tearing on the NGX. Actually the 337 hacked resolution for HDMI runs at 640x448, with black bars on the sides and bottom. The scaling algorithm has also been switched to linear (it was bi-linear before). This is what gets rid of most of the blurriness. Goldenegg is right, the screen tearing is a VSYNC issue with the emulator itself.

sorry fellas, havent been on in a looooong time. i thought i was sposed to get email updates when people posted in the thread?
unfortunately i dont have a tv to play this on right now so i cant say if hdmi image looks better. but it looks like your images are pretty good. i havent had much time to touch the device yet (yea i destroyed my microsd also, i'll need to find somewhere to download those 20 roms again...still)
maybe sometime after finals i'll put up something about a teardown, although i thought someone had already done one here or somewhere on the intronet
