Got one of these coming soon and wondered about the stability with the emulation post-fw500 (especially when played on a HDTV). Any problems with the frame rates? Much lag with the audio (latency issues)? Ive already heard about the input responsiveness.
Saw a vid of Metal Slug 2 on Youtube and there seemed to be some heavy slowdown at times, but I'd rather hear it from you peeps. I don't mind some issues I'm not expecting the world, just curious about how bad it could potentially be if at all.
Would be interesting to see the community post game reviews on here (perhaps with Youtube vids maybe), not just commenting on the games but also on how they handle. Now you might think whats the point in reviews when pretty much everyone here has an NGX so they can just see for themselves, but I was browsing this place before ordering one hoping to get some feedback first.

The frame rate is fine and I haven't experienced any stability problems with my NGX. There's just the screen tearing issue when playing on a TV, even on v500. Hopefully it'll be addressed in a future update. As for Metal Slug 2 slowdown, that's actually present in the arcade game itself. So whenever there's slowdown in a game, it's not because of poor emulation, it's just accurately emulating the original game's frame rate.

Thats interesting and puts my mind at ease lol, thanks. Really looking forward to this then. Been doing a lot of reading about SNK and the systems history now. Before I stumbled across this place I saw another forum that absolutely hates the NGX, I thought there was something terribly wrong with the emulation or something but obviously not.
Shame about the SDTV issues but without trying to sound selfish that won't affect me. Surely it should be an easy fix sometime though. Maybe Tommo is expecting the silent majority of users to play on their HDTV's? With the absolute purists preferring to choose an AES.

I never had an AES so I couldn't really compare and say if something's a bit off with the games on the NGX. I've played some of these games in the arcade though. So far, my experience with the NGX has been good and I haven't experienced any major problems with it.

I have 2 MVS cabs, 2 AES systems, CD, CDZ, and 2 Neo Geo X systems. I think the X is awesome. v500a on CRT is how I play and I think it looks great, minus the tearing of course.

My motto is why have one when you can have two at twice the price! Seriously though I think it's OCD...
