Do you think we'll ever see any kind of court battle? oooh, risky! I don't think SNK Playmore has the resources to really fight this one out in court, the company isn't as big as it was. If they loose, Tommo could then sue for damages to their brand, loss of sales and probably a lot more. It could prove disastrous for SNK. The bottom line is, and Tommo would state this in court, SNK signed off on the lot. If you know how these things work, especially when a 3rd party is making something for you, you have to sign off on each stage from the drawing board onwards. Even more interesting, from pics I've seen of the NGX internals, there is SNK branding there too. Those would have been specifically signed off as they are use of SNK IP. If someone would have a look inside the arcade stick and see if there is a SNK logo on the PCB, then that's proof SNK signed off on the stick's internals, they cannot then claim they didn't know it would work on the PS3 or whatever. If they signed off on a USB stick, they knew it was USB compatible and would work on almost all devices which could accept USB sticks. They wouldn't have just signed off once, it's a process that's repeated over and over during product development. Also, SNK have -ignored- all attempts by Tommo to resolve the issue or accept any proposals put forth under the terms of their contract. Won't look good in court! Then SNK have also gone directly to Tommo's own clients, which is very underhanded to say the least, and demanded they stop selling the NGX, again that will not look good in court at all. If I was running Tommo, I'd have sued SNK's a$$ off for just for that on the grounds of lost sales and irreparable damage to Tommo's brand. The NGX (according to the info I can find) was always a limited run, the final production run being in April. After that, it would have continued as a standalone handheld, with more games and updates. SNK are trying to prevent that stage from being reached, they want production stopped now and are using any flimsy argument to do so. And I truly believe the reason is this, SNK never in a million years expected the vicious hostility of a certain and very, very vocal section of their (supposed) fan base. They thought after 20 years, their fans would be happy for a commemorative product, as for emulation - who gives a f***? Well, apparently the pixel-fascists and a-holes in certain groups do. It's pure hardware or nothing for them. I don't think even SNK realised that, to be fair, how could they? But any search for the NGX brings up a plethora of negativity, someone can easily be put off ever buying one. I believe that SNK thinks this is damaging to their brand. Therefore, they are doing whatever they can to get out now, they don't even want to talk or resolve it, they just want out and in a court of law, that may not be enough. Whereas Tommo could assert SNK have damaged their brand and sales, it's hard to for SNK to say their brand has been damaged because of some whingers. Their assertions about Tommo appear weak at best. (Interesting side note, to the a-holes on 'that site' who label the NGX an impure Tommo product. The fact SNK's logos appear on the PCB, it seems quite likely that SNK had quite a lot to do with the board design - even if based on an Ingenic reference board. Ironic isn't it, that the most vociferous SNK fanatics have done more to damage SNK than anything else.)

I have not seen any SNK logos on the joystick motherboards (I have been taking them apart for my AES to NGX controller converters).

Yeah, nothing new in it is there? Maybe we, collectively as the forum, effectively as a user group of concerned individuals should contact them to ask for clarification, reconsideration and to come to an agreement with Tommo to continue with the NGX as a standalone handheld and continue releasing games. After all, as users and fans of SNK, we are innocent in this dispute and have bought our NGXs in good faith to support SNK. In the end, it is us who are effectively being punished....
....over a game stick they signed off for.
