Hi there, Ive been looking at the great posts here so far. What an awesome community! Better than the other place I was hanging out at... In any case, my question is this: Can I flash the firmware as described in the totorial: neogeox.proboards.com/thread/54/unbricking-modified-firmware-flashing-tutorial
and opt to not restore the stock 20 games? I want only to improve the HDMI output and would rather not open my unit up (I have a 337 with a home made SD CARD mod)

The answer is YES. However I have no idea how to do it.

Thanks! Ive been looking at the all the posts about bricking the unit after trying to pull the internal sd or case. Way too expensive to make that mistake.

Official firmware improves HDMI output too, but I'm assuming you don't want to loose the ability to load your own roms, nobody got the custom firmware thing working here, I was to scared to even try in the end

Dang. I thought that thread showed someone successfully loading the custom firmware.

The original poster said he did, then promptly dissapered, I'm not saying its impossible to do, just nobody who followed that thread managed it.

Looks kinda complicated. I guess eventually I'd like my NGX modded with my own set of games too, but I'm good for now. hehe.

You will definitely get a brick if you just proceed to the flashing step.
