So I finally gopt my NGX tools in the mail. It came with a modified SD card not like the one that was pictured originally but it still has all the correct soldering mods etc.
I popped in my first SD (PNY 2GB), formatted with the image from OMG, popped it into my NGX and I get the Game Card Error and flashing red and blue light on my rocket cable. Popped that card out, reformated with a hackimage I found from a Japanese blog about hacking the NGX. Same deal. One thing I notice is that the card still appears when I plug the adapter directly into my computer (albeit it says it cant read the file), so this lead me to believe that it was my specific SD card. I tried to add a bit of tape to thicken the SDcard up to hit the connectors better, still nothing. Tried cleaning the contacts on my card, still nothing. Tried formmating in FAT instead of FAT32, still getting the error.
Next I tried with a 4GB SD (Dane). Still the exact same issue. Card shows up on computer through the adapter (not readable natively)
Lastly tried with a 1GB (Sandisk). Still the exact same issue. Card shows up on computer through the adapter (not readable natively).
I am stumped. Is it just my SD cards? Is it my Adapter? If I had a bum adapter wouldn't nothing appear on Windows when plugged in?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Have been scouring the forums and google for hours and haven't found someone with this exact issue(still get the error, but the adapter still shows up on the PC).

Yea of course. Otherwise I wouldn't even see the "Neo Geo X Game Card Fault - Rocket Cable V2" message....

Same exact problem. I verified all connections on the SD card adapter and tried multiple image downloads and multiple image writing utilities. Saw this interesting post: I had that same problem with the OMG bundle when trying to jail break. The guy at OMG said it was something to do with the version of NEO GEO X i had ( i have no idea ), he sent me a green lead out and another card to do the jail breaking with. Worked first time.... So the other bits he borrowed me did the job... I purchased mine recently and it appeared to have been sent back somewhere to be re-flashed with 500a. I really don't want to wast time and money tracking down another NGX tool set when it might not help. I got my tools from Goldenshop - a well-modded SD card adapter and a Rocket Cable that does not seat firmly in the usb port. Am trying to get one of the factory-made deals off Aliexpress and keep getting my order canceled "for security reasons." SuperUFO only has the modded card/rocket cable combo in stock.

That is where I ordered mine from too, Goldenshop. I am going to try Aliexpress if my payment works. Sucks because everything seems to be okay. Maybe the wires they are using for the mod crossover and cause an error, but they seemed to be okay.

Holy Balls! I got it working! So after reading the bit about the pinout card, I thought that the main issue might just be that when goldenshop/whoever made their cards: they did not put them back together as tightly as they should have been OR they accidentally bent the connector plates upward slightly so they don’t correctly touch OR they were using low quality metals that corroded easily. I am guessing for me it was all of the above. The way I fixed it was part intentional, part fluke. I took a sharp pocket knife and gently scraped off the top layer of each metal connector on the adapter. Making sure to not go too deep or break the metal. The fluke part was when I was putting the adapter back together, my finger slipped, bending the bottom cover (the part the covers the plates) to where it was almost torn off. Here is what it looks like: After that I taped my adapter back together, put in my freshly formatted sd, did the steps with the rocket cable, and it worked! The Neo Geo X logo showed up, and started updating. It seems to fit find and eject fine from system. Loading up my roms to test them out now. So to conclude, if you have one of the Goldenshop cards that is giving you the Game Card Fault, try these two methods! It is a bit janky, but cost a lot less than buying another one!
