when i turned it on without the stand, the screen wouldnt turn on. let me rephrase that.
the gold and black background neo geo x logo would come up twice as usual. when it came to the white screen with the inverted neo geo x logo, that would not appear.
i thought, maybe its an issue with the card or the jail break. lemme try the jail break again. nothing. lemme fiddle around with the card. nothing.
wonder if it works in av mode. funny enough, everything works fine when plugged into the tv... except the thing freezes when im in game and press the menu button.
i wonder what the deal is. maybe i'll try to reflash stock firmware then rehack it later this week. stay tuned.

Do you have a 337 (silver screws)? I have seen 337 units with this problem for sale on eBay (boots only to a white screen), but have never managed to win one to fully figure out what is wrong with them. If you have a 337 you should try to hotswap out the internal SD with a preflashed one as it sounds like a software problem.

update to the situation. thank god for omg-snk's site.
reflashed 337pro without removing or formatting internal microsd (cause im too lazy).
ran jailbreak with rocket cable using existing jailbreak card.
everythings running as smooth as silk now.

I had something very similar. I was never able to fix it except by luck - after six months the unit miraculously started working again as good as new. It was really odd - I never take my NGX unit out the house just to try and keep it safe and healthy.

I should have not typed the above - the unit has since started playing up again after 2months of problem free gaming. Doh.

The problem you have is a battery issue.
My X battery was flat as a fart and would just freeze on game selecting. Even when charging and playing in the dock i still had problems. Just leave it to charge and dont play it.
Once i gave it a full charge. Everything is good again.
Also mine had not been used for a few months.
If all else fails a new battery will be the way forward.

Cheers mate - you could well be correct as
i) it works fine in the dock
ii) i do tend to leave for it periods inbetween playing.
I will give it a charge and then see.
Either way it works in the docking station to not too bad.
BTW that docking station still brings a big smile to my face everytime I see it in front of the TV!
