I just installed a backlight into one of my Gameboy Pocket (B&W) systems. I know it is only possible to front light an NGPC, but the B&W version of the Neo-Geo Pocket should be able to take a backlight just like this. I have looked, but have not found any that have been modded in this way. I might try to get a hold of a B&W NGP and install a white or blue backight like this pocket below:

You know, I was curious if this could be done. If you are successful, let me know!

There aren't very many games for the B&W NGP though. This might be a dumb question, do the games for the color NGPC work with the B&W NGP (like some of the games for the Gameboy Color)?

I believe the NGP is forward-compatible with most of the NGPC games.

How come most NGPC US master-lists don't have Magical Drop Pocket? That was released in the US, right? Also, they should add Last Blade and Faselei as cartridge-only releases for the US.

I'm not certain. It seems that some games were never truly released but were sold in weird bundles after the console was discontinued. That's what happened to The Last Blade and Gal's Fighter.
I think I heard that Faselei never even received that. The game was completely discontinued and it was sold in bulk from warehouses or something like that.
As far as Magical Drop, I have no idea. It even has a full box with an ESRB rating.

If it's on THAT site, it's probably all lies. "derrr... stay for teh drama!" I'm not certain. I don't know what happened in the US or other countries, but in the UK after SNK's support was pulled the remaining stock was de-branded and sold in blister packs, even Game stocked them for a while. It was sold as "Pocket Color Arcade" (incl. NGPC and 6 games) and at least two expansion packs of 4 games each. A tragic, sad demise for a great system that deserved to continue and evolve further. (I think SNK missed a opportunity with the NGX, they could have added NGPC emulation and games too and made the ultimate SNK handheld, Then again, the whingers would have still destroyed it.)

I think Faselei and Last Blade came only in those 4 packs in the US. I guess that's why they're not included in the master-list. I've seen Magical Drop Pocket complete in box though with the ESRB rating on the cartridge, so it's likely that it was released in the US.

This is a fun little system to collect for, games aren't too expensive (in fact some titles are REALLY cheap).

I agree. That's one of the reasons I got a NGPC. The other reason was SVC MotM. hehe.

I agree. That's one of the reasons I got a NGPC. The other reason was SVC MotM. hehe. That was the first game I got for the system when it first launched in the US. It took forever to unlock all those characters, but it was fun as hell (looking forward to doing it again).
