The only problem with the Neo Geo Pocket is the lack of a backlight, the third party ones specifically for the NGPC are quite hard to find nowadays so I was looking for an alternative. The wife got one of these off the mother-in-law for reading, but I have appropriated it for the NGPC. It goes around your neck and the lamps can be focused on the NGPC LCD screen, it works quite well even in a pretty dark room. I thought I'd share, if anyone has any better solutions I'd love to know. Ever think about doing the top light mod? You just need an old GBA SP.

I'm pretty nervous about performing a top-light mod as I've never soldered anything before. I've done a lot of other hacks, mods, repairs, but I'm just beginning with solder and circuits (my first solder attempt will be this week as I attempt to replace a headphone jack in an ipod touch. The whole thing is disassembled, I'm just waiting for the piece).
I wish there was someone who stilled did those mods. I would love to get my Wonderswan modded, but the last person to do them was Rose-Colored Gaming. He's stopped doing customs and is apparently more than a little shady.

Were only talking about 2 wires that need to be soldered (also a resistor) for the toplight mod. The majority of the work on those involve cutting/prepping the NGPC case to fit the toplight. I could do it for your for $50 if you provide the GBA SP needed for the toplight. I have ordered from Rose-Colored Gaming before (I recently modded my GBA-001 with a backlit screen from a GBASP-101), how is he shady?

Ever think about doing the top light mod? You just need an old GBA SP. No, not on this mint machine. If I had a spare and some spare parts I'd consider a custom mod. How is Rose Coloured Gaming shady? I'm quite surprised, did people not get what they ordered?

I can't verify shady on my end, but I've read multiple forum posts (mostly from those other neogeo guys) where Wiggy sent back unclean or scratched items and was not kind during the email exchanges.
In one of the threads, he showed up and kind of rambled like a loon instead of a business owner.
It just made me hesitant about his store. Not that I could buy anything from him because he doesn't offer the products I want anymore. (Which he then offered as a prize. Gr!)

That's a shame. His blog had some good tutorials for casting your own parts from moulds and mixing up your own plastics. I'd love to try that, making blinged-up NGPC cases, AES cases, NGX docks, controller cases and buttons etc is quite appealing. I'd love a red MVS themed arcade stick, or dock.

Maybe, I know my neck thingy works, that may work just as well if not better. Cheap enough to try even if it doesn't work.
