Okay, I know this is not about the Neo-Geo X version, but since Neo-Geo X is basically an emulator that plays Neo-Geo AES games.....and I know it has Magician Lord on it.....can someone answer a question for me? Does Magician Lord have infinite continues? I have used a few on the first level boss (the head that comes out of the wall) and this is the first time I have gotten to it.....just wondering if i have infinite continues.....

Yup, they opted to use the MVS version of the game (hence, no intro) so you will have infinite continues.

Worth throwing in, my AES version also gives me infinite continues (And my AES is stock, no unibios here!). Unlike the MVS version though, when killed, you don't start exactly where you died. Rather, at the beginning of the level. Unless you reached a checkpoint, which the game won't tell you about. Though it will keep starting you again ay a stage boss, if you managed to get there.

Okay, i just fired up my emulator...and yea...the MVS version of Magician Lord is different than the AES version.....
AES version gives you 6 hit points instead of 4 in the MVS version MVS version picks up EXACTLY where you left off.....if you hit the boss 3 times and die, when you resume he's still injured
I beat level one on the arcade version in no time w/o cheating......I need Unibios LOL

I just miss the intro... out of all the games to mix up, the don't give us the AES version of the one game which has several differences.

are there any other Neo-Geo games that have pretty significant differences between the arcade and home port?

wouldn't the MAME ROM have it? or using Unibios with a Neo-Geo X or AES have it?

I'm not rightly sure, but I think so. Just remember when booting with unibios to boot in console mode. Unless it has to do with the actual romset in the carts.. so yeah. Not sure!

I tried it with Unibios and aes Mode.Still no Intro You're right....I tried it with my MAME ROM and not only that, you STILL only get 4 hit points like the arcade version.....hmm, just wonder if they do any other Neo-Geo games like that.....I guess it does pay to have AES versions of the cartridge after all....however, its hard as hell......

I think there are 2 sets of the Magician Lord rom. I've downloaded and played the one with the intro before and played it with MAME, so it's out there somewhere.

In fact, it is! At least thru MAME! I already had Set 1 and downloaded Set 2 and ran it.....adds the other hit points (6 instead of 4 in the "normal" one)....also has the Intro! Wonder if this can be applied to the NGX!
