If your experiencing wonky or off controls via the thumb stick here is the reason, and the fix is really easy, either spin the pad till it lines up (I really don't recommend this) or undo the 8 screws surrounding the NEO-GEO X edges, then ease the back off, you have small hook type clips on the bottom part of the back rubber plate holding it tight-ish they need a push upwards, the top has no such clips, it's fairly easy to get the back off if your careful, and it's highly unlikely you will do any damage, once removed all you have to do is check to see if you need to turn your pad to the correct position, see the pictures for more clarity.

Very nice! Surprised it took this long for someone to figure that out. Good detective work.

I am glad I did because someone may think they have a major control fault when it is actually something-and-nothing to quote a crap cliche. It's great that we have this forum, I am sure I will need help with something at some point and will no doubt find my answer here.

Today i realized that my thumbstick "klicks" not so loud when i pushed it to the right side as it sounds like pushing to the other directions. It also feels not so "hard" and precise like before. So,before i open my NGX i want to ask if the solution you posted works in this case too?

I can't say for sure...Most owners have experienced something similar. I think it may just be the stick breaking in. Because right direction gets used the most you notice it there first.

I notice on mine, up and down has a loud click, and the right click is a lower sound than the left click.
Still works great. I will only panic when it stops working.

When you have used it more and the other directions break in there should be minimal difference in feeling between the different directions. That's my experience anyway. It's normal what you are experiencing.

Considering my NGX is new, it doesn't click in all directions, up doesn't click much at all really, down clicks a bit, left and right click loudly, right is loudest. I did try rotating it to no effect. I do worry that it won't last too long.

It's normal what you are experiencing. This is true, after enough play the micro switches will "break in" and all sound the same. Anyone else play there's so much that there is no longer any trace of printing around the sides (gamecard text, power, vol etc)? I think it looks a bit nicer without the orange/gold writing :/

If it's out of sync then I guess it could fix the issue, if not I assume it's just ware-and-tare, you generally press right more than any other direction, so that would make sense, that said I have a similar issue with my 370 version (I have a 500a too) it has never made the clicking noise when I press right, but the other 4 directions and diagonals do click, it works fine though so I don't much care, if it is really bugging you maybe open it up and have a look, the spring might need a stretch, but to do that you'll have to do some de-soldering, I wouldn't advise that unless your a solder master like yours-truly, ha, ha, ha!
