Let's assume I don't want to use my NGX to run snes roms, nor do I want to use a PSP, what's my best option to play snes roms on a handheld? Ideally something like the Blaze handheld megadrive with sd card slot, but for snes, nothing like that seems to exist..? Anybody have any ideas? Thanks for your help

How about the Retro Duo Portable (RDP) or Supaboy? You'll need cartridges for those though.

SupaBoy with a Super UFO Pro 9 (cart with an SD slot). The SupaBoy actually LOOKS like an SNES pad... it's the NGX of SNES. It's not incredibly portable, but it wouldn't be emulation - it's real hardware.

Hi, I really would not recommend it to be honest with you. It seemed like a great idea to run my collection on, so I ordered one (GameGadget v2.0) just before new years, it came on friday. It only worked for a few hours. Atari, Megadrive and NES seemed to look ok, SNES looked quite bad - the pixels just did not look right, like they had been resized or stretched or something. I could not get MAME working at all. My GameGadget also came with dead pixels and black finger prints all over the back. It was also VERY poorly constructed, the front was coming away from the main case and even touching the LCD caused black lines and shorting out of the screen. It also buzzed very loudly, quite disconcerting really. After a few hours it literally stopped working, it would startup with the red GameGadet logo, then the screen would go black (with dead pixels showing) and started pulsing and flickering. I'm waiting to return it now. I bought it with an open mind, realising most of the criticisms I'd seen were relating to the first release of the device, but I think the v2 is basically the same hardware with a firmware update, it also refused to boot into sandbox mode regardless of what format the SD card was in. Very poor overall I'm afraid but YMMV.

you must have a dodgy unit. My gamegadget plays my snes roms great, Mame is a no go, but CPS1 and 2 work brilliant.
Im overall happy with my gamegadget, cant go wrong for the price.

Hmm thanks guys, not sure about a gamegadget after reading that, as legacy says it might have just been a faulty unit, then again the gamegadget dosen't have great reviews. I did look a the superboy, but its much to bulky I'm afraid.

Yeah, mine was obviously a duff machine, but as one window closes another opens, the refund is going towards my NeoGeo X. So that worked out great for me.
I've found my Android tablet runs emulators great and I'm planning to get a USB gamepad for it. Have you seen the Android handhelds designed for emulation? The JXD ones spring to mind (JXD S7300 - needs firmware update for best results and JXD 8700b), if I wasn't getting a NGX for some reason, I'd probably go for one myself. They are a substantial size though because of the huge screen. Some have emus preloaded AFAIK.
