I wish they'd just tell us what's actually going on instead of just repeating what they said before. I guess it's not allowed to let the public know?

SNK are a bit late to be calling the arcade stick a pirated product, 1year down the line. Seems like they have nothing on Tommo, and are looking for an excuse, which is just lame.

I know. I think fans who support the NGX deserve to at least get an explanation about this matter. It's just making SNK look bad.

This honestly looks like a PR stunt to get rid of all the current stock. Neither company went through the proper channels to file a cease and desist, instead both SNKp and Tommo release press releases respectively. Hmmmm. This smells like BS. Companies pull stunts like this all the time to increase demand and create controversy. I mean look, SNKp says to pull the product and that Tommo cannot sell the NGX anymore... then Tommo releases a statement saying they have not breached contract and will continue to sell and support the system. Meanwhile everyone rushes out to get one before they're gone. You will never hear another word about any court battle between SNKp and Tommo... especially not press release style to the gaming community. I was expecting them to leak a full jailbreak to rid stock before something like this... but I guess they needed to get rid of all those SD card game packs first.

The more i think about your statement, the more i see the truth in it. Defo good marketing and business tactics after all the new snkp ceo is no angel, done a bit of time, likes to bend the rules and the jailbreak looks very polished also this will cause interest and sell the product.
So hopefully we will see all the mega packs, because i see no supplier stopping selling of the products as they are still available now and its very funny how i was told many months back from an insider of the neogeo x, that something was comming upto christmas?
The puzzle is comming together now.
Eric Jackson its happening, very happy indeed my friend.

If it is a PR stunt, it's still making SNK look bad. I guess that doesn't matter as long as it helps with sales.

Hi guys
This is my 1st message here. I joined because I'm really pissed off about TOMMO - not SNK. And that's, of course not an opinion I can voice on their FB page. Everyone there -and here- seems to take it for granted that it's evil SNK's fault, and seem to be thinking of a conspiracy from them to make big money, and suck the life out of poor Tommo's neck.
Just a few facts - and what seems to me their logical conclusion.
1/ The limited edition hasn't sold out, a year after. The FB page counts 4000 fans (we can't add those from the Blaze page, as there are inevitably duplicate registrations). My conclusion: Wake up, we are not talking about playstations here: it's a niche product for retrogamers. When I read "ooh, seeing the great success of the X, SNK surely want to sink it, launch their own console, and grab all the great profit to themselves" I have the impression we don't live on the same planet. Same when I read that the public dispute, that is harmful to both companies' reputations, could be a PR stunt to sell a few more units! The only stunt I see is Tommo not giving any news - as said news (well, old news) would probably be little more than "there won't be anymore megapacks, sorry guys" (see 2/). You know, it's Christmas and all, and you never know, they could still sell a few.
2/ In their termination of the licence agreement, SNK listed the licensed products: NGX gold set, 5 x 3 games, megapack. Conclusion 1: Tommo haven't secured the rights to the entire game library. SNK aren't going to sell them in the current situation. No more megapacks. Bye. Conclusion 2: the stick isn't on the list of licensed products. Tommo don't have the licence to sell the stick separately. And yet, they do. Of course SNK are pissed off! Not securing the rights to sell that stick isn't only extremely amateurish from Tommo, but selling it anyway is dishonest. Morally and legally - I'm no specialist, but that sounds like a plain and simple infringement of business and IP law. You know, that stick... It's part of a limited edition bundle. If you start selling unlimited copies of what was agreed to be a limited edition product, basically, you're doing something wrong. Especially if it then becomes a competition to another licenced product - there is a neo geo stick for PC/PS3 on the market already. Btw, you did notice that the NGX stick could be used on PC/PS3, while standard USB controllers couldn't be used on the NGX, didn't you?
So I'm definitely not sticking with Tommo on this one. From what I can see, they signed a screwed up agreement (no stick FFS!), and didn't respect its terms. They clearly seem responsible for the demise of their own product, and the disappointment of their customers - we, the guys who spent hard earned cash to play games they can play for free.
Later events could prove me wrong of course - but from what I can see, I don't understand why people keep laying the blame on SNK, and only SNK. I can even less understand the enthusiasm at the idea that Tommo might now be encouraging -or supporting- piracy of SNK's IP. And on a less objective note: SNK have provided me hours of enjoyment over the years. Tommo are new and nothing to me - to me that's another reason to avoid bashing SNK for no objective reason.

We all just want an explanation from SNK so we can understand why the license is being terminated. No one really knows the reason. We can only assume.

Why do you think the legal dispute would have been immediately made public? I'm pretty sure they could do without that kind of publicity, and there were talks & C&Ds from the beginning. Then only comes public announcements and legal action.
