I heard somewhere that using a composite to hdmi converter/upscaler actually improves video quality. I was wondering if this is true? Has anyone around here ever done this?

That's interesting. I wish the X had component cables.

S-Video out to CRT. These pics suck but in person this looks phenomenal. Very very happy with this setup.

You can really see the difference in the old vs new Magician Lord pics. Look how much clearer the numbers are on top of screen and the HP and POW boxes are on bottom of screen. Huge improvement! All you need is a Super VHS player and a CRT and your good to go!

Those look amazing, surely there must be a way for Tommo to make the NGX display images of this quality without having to find an old VCR and CRT TV.can updates be used to improve graphics to that extent??

I guess the way Tommo can do that is by further improving the HDMI output. I've heard they improved it with the latest update, so I reckon they could possibly do more with another update.

I think the current HDMI with the 500 update looks phenomenal. =)

I agree. Your gameplay videos with the HDMI output looked pretty good. The only issue I can see is the screen tearing, and I noticed it more probably because I'm just watching. If I was playing, I probably wouldn't notice as much since I'd be having fun. haha. I do hope Tommo addresses the screen tearing soon though. That's one of the main complaints whenever I check out NGX reviews

Yeah, I notice it on occasion along with slight input lag on certain titles. But overall I am pleased and got my moneys worth thus far =)

Is there any screen tearing when playing with just the handheld?

Not that I've noticed really, think they may be a bit in metal slug and metal slug 2 but think that may just be in the original code.
