Hi everybody,
So despite all the mixed reviews about the NeoGeo X, I finally pulled the trigger and ordered the Holiday Bundle with the Mega Pack v.1 included from amazon.
It finally arrived last night and to my surprise, the seal on the box containing the handheld was already cut open. One I got a charge on the unit and booted it up I saw that it was already updated to the 500a firmware. But there were a few problems...
On the handheld itself, the headphone jack doesn't work properly, if I plug in some headphones all the way in it doesn't push the signal to the headphones (tried with multiple sets) and just keeps playing the sound through the handheld. I can get it to work but only if I pull the jack out about a third of the way and even then its spotty at best...
When I opened up the Mega pack v.1 (which was still sealed) it only had the gamecard itself.....no booklet....and no rocket cable...
I was really looking forward to having the cable not only for charging while away from the docking station, but to jailbreak this badboy in the near future. And not having the booklet just kinda sucks in general.
So my question is, should I just keep this unit or take advantage of Amazon's return policy now and have them ship another Bundle?
Was the missing cable/book a common thing with these bundles? (i saw one or two reviews that mentioned that)
The only real issue with the hardware is that finicky headphone jack, is it worth rolling the dice that the next unit will be in better condition?
Anyways....thanks for reading.
At the end of the day, for someone like me who can't afford to start an MVS/AES collection, this is by far the best option to enjoy these old badass arcade games.
