Hey guys, sometime ago I put in a 200+ dollar order for the OMG mod and after months and months of no communication or product (over 3 if I recall) it just never arrived and the product was eventually refunded with nothing but disappointment. I had bought the system, controllers and got everything prepped to jailbreak it only to lose the easy route. I thought this device included all i'd need but it seems I need files that I can not locate as example, so can anyone here be a pal and help me figure out how to get this up and running step by step? My only goal is to have the latest jailbreak firmware and to be able to play CPS/Neo Geo roms really. My NeogeoX is currently updated with firmware 500 (not 500a), I have the tool, the included card/cable and such, and the card has a lot of stuff included like roms and such. Can anyone here help me out? I know it doesn't mean much but i'd be extremely grateful! |

Hey,
I too am a little new here. Are you by chance in the US.
I so i can just make a 1/2 gb micro sd card firmware jailbeak boot card for you to use with your kit to jailbreak your unit.
You would put the card i send you in your sd card adapter, put that in your memory card reader tool, switch it to (X) mode and do the normal upgrade like a normal firmware upgrade and youll see it say jailbreak update instead.

Have you upgraded your firmware before using one of the volume packs1 or did your unit come with version 500?

Yeah I upgraded it once using the volume one pack but it didn't have the firmware A version on it, my only real desire here is to play the roms on this card on it.

Ok well i can help you 1 of 2 ways.
1. You can PM me your address and i will send you a 1gb micro sd card to flash your firmware using the tool kit you bought,
2. Or if you feel uncomfortable attempting it i can PM you my Texas address and you can mail me just your neogeo x unit only and ill flash it for you and mIl it back.
Once the flashing is done, you can use the card you got and the adapter to pkay the roms on it.
(My screen name is beldandy561, it is the same screen name of my ebay account so that you can see my over 700+ feedbacks to know i am trust worthy if you decide to ship your unit to me to jailbreak)
I wont charge anything to do it, as im happy to help out another fellow neogeo x player. There arnt many of us.

First of all, backup the content on the card you got with the pack. Just copy all the files into an empty directory on your computer.
Secondly, I'm a bit confused as the link you provided includes pretty detailed instructions on how to jailbreak including a youtube video.
Does the card have the jailbreak image and image writer program mentioned in the instructions? Just write the jailbreak image onto a 2 gb card using the image writer program. Then follow the instructions. Pop the original card you got with the pack into the NGX and it should work (if the card has the right files/structure).

The main issue is that in the video it shows him placing an image file from his computer to the card, but there is no included image file and the link in the video doesn't seem to include anything anymore.

I'm sure some here can provide you with a link to the 345 jailbreak image or send it to you.. I got it on my computer back home, I could email it to you, but I won't be back for another two weeks unfortunately.

Sorry i didnt respond earlier, i was up all night doing stuff and crashed around 10am.
I just woke up.
Anyway to answer your question of "other than the image file do i need anything else?" The answer is yes.
Once you have the cracked image file downloaded, you need to use an included utility program called image writer to create a bootable firmware update micro sd card that the neogeo x will recognize to update your firmware to the jailbroken version.
The reason this isnt already done for you and just put in 1 download is cause the formated micro sd card created for use updating the neogeo x firmware is NOT recognizable by a windows PC after you create it on the micro sd card using the image writer utility.
If you put that micro sd card back in a windows PC after creating a neogeo x bootable firmware update on it, windows just says that the card is not properly formated and needs to be formated to be usable.

Thanks for the responses so far guys. Alright so I figured i'd post about what i've messed with so far, I think this actually MIGHT come with an image file but I am running into a problem, and I figured i'd run it by the people here to see what i'm doing wrong. I did copy all the data to a new folder BEFORE doing anything just in case.
So I go into the removable drive F (the tool in this case) and click the win32diskimager file, I run it as admin and then run into a problem. The image I found on the tool files is jailbreak_V0.4-5gecf6931.img, I placed it on my desktop as well. When running the tool trying to select it from the F drive, it just says it can't find it, when I try to select it from my desktop I get this:
An error occurred when attempting to lock the volume. Error5: Access is denied
So, I must be doing something wrong. Any tips?
Based on the post above me, what I have done is put an SD card adapter with a micro SD card in it (2gb, drive G) and erased it. I'm trying to turn that card into the jailbreak file.. Am I doing this wrong?

Ok what you want to do is take the image file (jailbreak_V0.4-5gecf6931.img) the files that came in the same folder as the win32diskimager and make sure they are all in 1 folder on your PC, NOT on the sd card.
Take a different micro sd card you have around the house (under 4gb), put it in a NORMAL micro sd to sd adapter put in computer via sd slot/multi media card reader and run the WIN32DISKIMAGER exe.
It should then give you the option to select the .img file you want to use AND the destination location, (this will be the micro sd cards drive letter, F,G, etc.)
then conclude running the program. It will do a bunch of stuff via a text menu box and eventually (maybe 1 min) say the item finished successfully.

(FYI THE 4.5 IMAGE FIRMWARE REALLY ISNT AS GOOD AS THE 3.5 VERSION DUE TO SLOWDOWN WHEN RUNNING ROMS BUT THATS A DIFFERENT ISSUE)

Alright so, here is what i'm doing step by step (thanks so much for the help up to this point)
I have a folder on my desktop with the jail break and all the other files in that folder. I open up win32diskmanager, I select Drive G (my sd/micro adapter with 2 gig card) and then select the jailbreak file from the desktop folder and hit write, it then gives this error:
An error occurred when attempting to lock the volume. Error5: Access is denied
I hope i'm just missing something obvious here..

Ok 2 questions.
1. Does your micro sd to sd adaptor accidently have the slider down making the sd card locked and your unable to delete files from it.
2. Are you using ANY of the equipment you got in the neogeo x tool kit to do these steps (for ease of the image writer program you shouldnt be using the KIT yet and be using your own off the shelf gear for the image writing tool)
3. What version of windows are you running.
