Hi Rob,
I already own x2 Sega gohpers (Blaze, atgames) with 6 buttons (Orange one & blue, Street fighter version) and sd card slot with 1000 games all with icons. Took me ages to get these icon sets.
I choose pxp slim because it is cheaper and great for the young ones.
I too get a year guarantee.

Got to think of the children - I am right with you there brother.
It is really nice to see my kids enjoying the games I once did (and still do!).

I like the part on the box that says "pxp3slimstation". They really thought hard about the name.

I just have 50 in my SD card at the moment, with icons too. I think around 100 games will be enough for me. hehe.
By the way, does the orange Gopher have a difference with the new blue one in terms of emulation/performance?

No,
performance is the same, except the blue one is marketed for street fighter 2. However if you get the russian versions. They have wireless 2 player mode built in. So 2 people using two Gopher handhelds can link and play two player. Pretty cool.

Very cool. BTW what ratio do you have to use for the gopher screenshots to display within the menu? That must have taken a long time to get them all!
I amstill thinking of picking up the master system unit. I'd be interested to open it up and see whether there is a micro sd cards inside with the roms on (which of course could then be replaced withan sd card holding all SMS roms.

For gopher screenshots, they should be png files with w-120 and h-112. There's a program that lets you do it. For anyone who is interested, you can get it at the MDB.DAT section of this article: segaretro.org/Arcade_Ultimate#MDB.DAT

Does your unit have "dots that never turn off"?

I thought of getting the Master System/Game Gear handheld too, but the lack of a SD card slot made me a little hesitant. I wish they'd release a new version with the SD card slot but it looks like they're focusing more on the Genesis. I wonder if they'll release a new version of the Genesis handheld some time.

I would really like to see the version with the link up.
They recently released a console version of the gopher with wireless controllers and compatible with (most) cartridges. But there still seems to be sound issues and of course some games (such as virtua racing) will not work.

I have the console version too. It's the same emulation-wise with the handheld. The wireless controllers aren't very good since you have to be directly in front of the console for them to work properly. I prefer the handheld.
