My Neogeo x plays fine on handheld, but now when i put in the dock it freezes on selecting games, forcing a reset.
Any one have any ideas.
Update:
seems to be when the handheld is fully dead with red light, after a bit of charge, seems to be working great in the dock now.

Something somewhat similar happened to me. One time, my arcade stick wouldn't work right. It was right after charging too, so I guess it does have something to do with that.

Yeah, my handheld was flat as a pancake, now its fully charged, the arcade stick is working great in the dock. I guess the handheld needs some power to perform properly.

I think it was probably just lacking enough battery juice to boot a ROM, or maybe some overheating.

My NGX goes through tempremental periods where ROMs (that have previously worked fine) crash more regularly and on the odd occasion I'll turn on my NGX but the screen remains blank.
Always seems to come backin the end (so far). Has anyone else experienced issues like this?

The odd occasion is now becoming regular :-( The unit keeps freezing in game. At first I thought it might be the NGX tools card (perhaps the sd card becoming loose) but this is now occuring even when I am playing the built in games (which had never happened previously).
I will try and reinstall the firmware update and see if that helps.
Has anyone else out there experienced something similar? It only started happening last week and then slowly deteriorated happening more and more frequently.
I'll update again once I have reinstalled the firmware.

So, have just reinstalled the firmware and the results are encouraging - so far after 10 minutes of play no games have crashed - too early to say whether this has completely fixed the problem or not but fingers crossed.
Anyway I can see that the units are on sale at funstock for £115 (or £125 with the mega pack) which is a pretty awesome price but hopefully won't come to that.

Further update - all seems to be working again as normal? Very strange!
Has anyone else had a similar episode with their NGX?
Nothing beats playing Real bout with my son! ;-)

A few times, my NGX discharged while just being in the dock and not being used for a while, then the arcade stick wouldn't work right until it got charged more. I've never had any of the games crash or freeze though fortunately.

Thanks, that is good to know that it should work fine.
I am re-installing firmware 500.I can then understand whether it is an issue with my NGX or an issue withthe magic card.
I am thinking that perhaps the magic card is not holding the sd card in firmly enough (as the metal holder is partially damaged). So the solution could be OMG pro card 2, but I won't know until I have played for a week or so with firmware 500.
Fingers crossed.

So, bad news, the mega pack games arenow also freezing mid play :-( Looks like I am going to need a whole new NGX people :-( Unfortunately the crashing is too frequent to make it playable.

You could probably use a safety pin to recondition or "lift" the SD card reader's pins back into position... this repair would require you to take your NGX apart, however.

What type of "magic" card did you use? Was it a tight fit? 9 times out of 10 this is cause by poorly made SD card adapter hacks (the card ends up being so thick that it wears/bends the pins to the point where they do not make contact with normal or well made SD card adapters.

I have had it for over a year so the guarantee will have expired by now.
OMG - thanks for the advice but after now reinstalling firmware 500 and the mega pack also now freezing I no longer think it is the magic card but rather the unit.
Just wondering whether the fact I was saving SNES games could have somehow caused the problem? Has anyone else been using game saves within the SNES/megadrive?
Thanks again one and all for your help and thoughts - much appreciated.
On the plus side I do get to open a brand new NGX at some point soon ;-)!
