That's interesting. It would be nice to get specific USB controllers for each emulator. I probably won't since it's not practical, but I just think that would be cool. hehe.

i played it only for a half hour and the framerate is ok,but not more. I dont think it´s wise to spend money for it,there´s a lot more games to see 8bit dungeon, heroes of loot and so on and so on. Most of the time i play the good ol´retro games from my childhood.Right now i have the following emulators on my ouya and they all work perfectly or as close to the original as possible: GameBoy/GB-Color Commodore C64 Amiga 500/1200 GB Advance NES SNES Master System Game Gear Turbo grfx/PC Engine Mame Neo Geo Sega CD Sega Mega Drive/Genesis Neo Geo Pocket N64 Psx/PsOne Dreamcast
How is the Neo Geo emulator? Is it better or just the same as MAME (w/ Neo Geo games) on Ouya?

That's good to know. Emulation would probably be my main use for an Ouya if ever I do get one. I still want to try out Ravensword though. It's nice that each game gives you a free trial. Every game company should do that. It might help them sell more stuff.

This has really sparked my interest!
Is the NG emu FBA?
I can see the ouya only has a single full sized USB connector at the front. How do you play two player games using two plug in controllers?
Is the DC emu any good?
Thanks for your help mate. Ever since my NGX died I've been considering whether to replace like with like or pick up something else. As I never used my NGX on the go this looks like a good option.

I use a normal usb hub.i have two ps3 blue tooth controller, a mouse and a keyboard (for playin scumm and amiga/c64) and for some snes games etc. I use a usb adapter to connect the original controllers to the ouya. With the hub i can connect 6 usb devices (only my external hdd needs his own power supply) the neo geo emulator i use is the same that you can get over playstore on every android phone.its possible to side load every android app from the net on the ouya. The dreamcast emu is as far as i tested it the best i ever played.some games have graphic or sound issues or wont start....but a lot of good pearls will work without any issues. For me as a retro nerd the ouya was the best 100€ i spend this year

I'm really thinking of getting one some time soon. I looked at some NG emulation videos for the Ouya and it doesn't look like they use fba files for the games, so I'm guessing it's not FBA. Anyway, if you still have your NGX stick, you might even be able to use that for the Neo Geo emulator on the Ouya.

Hang on, isn't the Ouya just an Android device that connects to the TV? If so, can you not just sideload apks straight onto it. I've got Ravensword DRM-free already from a Humble Bundle sale, so surely that would just work? Or is there something special about the Ouya's apps I'm unaware of? I've got all the .emu emulators so wouldn't they 'just work' too?

they all will work with sideloading, there is also a way to install the google play store and the Black Market App works perfect, only ouya games on the ouya shop have drm,so if you sideload a cracked apk etc. thats available on the ouya store too they will reset the apk to demo mode,i tried it with Another World/Out of this World and with Ravensword too. And yep,its just a Android Based Core with HDMI out...but man, that f****** little Cube is a Retro Dream^^

I'm talking about sideloading LEGAL AND DRM-FREE aps from Humble Bundle, if you haven't heard of it... They do blitz sales of games, even eBooks and comics (i.e. Dr Who and Walking Dead!!) occasionally, for PC/Linux/Mac and sometimes Android, some is blighted by Steam's DRM on PC, but usually they are DRM-free and can be used however you like and you name your own price, even $1! www.humblebundle.com If there is anyone here who doesn't know about this, go and take a look.
I've got about 20 DRM-free Android games, probably twice as many again on Linux/PC, I've also got a lot of books and comics too. )
Now the question is, if I installed the DRM-free Ravensword from Humble Bundle on an Ouya, would it replace it with a DRM'd demo? That would not be good.
Also, beyond being tied into Ouya's services etc. what is the benefit or gains from buying an Ouya, than just using a cheaper Android USB stick or even my Tesco Hudl, connected via HDMI to the TV with my NGX arcade stick or another gamepad?

What is the Neo Geo emulator on Ouya called? If it's neo.emu you're good to go, it's what I use, otherwise you could sideload it maybe. You can use virtually any USB gamepad, you just need to define the buttons in the emu itself which is super easy. I use the NGX stick, flawless.

Yes, it's Neo.emu. It'll be nice to use the NGX stick with that. I'd also like to try out the emulators for the NES, SNES, Genesis, and NGPC.
