Hi All, Just signed up for the forum and thought I'd share the stick mods I've done. De-Soldering the original buttons from the board: Test fitting the new Seimitsu 24mm push fit buttons: Wiring the new buttons up: The finished result complete with Sanwa Bat Top Handle: I then started to mess around with the stick spring as the originals are a bit weak. Original spring: Replacement Seimitsu spring: Original spring (left) Replacement Seimitsu spring (right) The stick now feels much better as a result of the new spring.

What kind of Seimitsu spring did you use and where did you get it from? Did it help get rid of some of the grinding?

What kind of Seimitsu spring did you use and where did you get it from? Did it help get rid of some of the grinding? Hi, I would say it has got rid of some the griding, and feels alot tighter than my second stick which I've not changed the spring in yet. I think more improvement could be made by changing the actuator, although I've not tried that yet. I also thought about adding a washer or doubling the springs up and see how that feels.. I got all of the parts from ArcadeworldUK. I've not ordered much from them, however when I have everything has been spot on I took a bit of a gamble on which spring I needed and ordered a LS-56 & LS-32 (only a couple of quid each). Unfortunately when they arrived they weren't marked. Did a bit more googling and found this: If the above is correct then the LS-56 fits ok.

Thanks for the information! No worries. If you're thinking of changing the handle be a bit careful as some handles appear to be "glued" on using some super strength thread lock or something along those lines. The stick that came with my NGX was "glued" on and I ended up cutting it off with a Dremel : Once I'd removed the old handle I just cleaned the shaft threads out with the wire brush attachment on the Dremel and screwed the thread adaptor on for the Bat Top Handle My second stick which I bought at the Play Expo event just unscrewed, no problem.

I used a blow drier on the stick ball to soften the glue and stuck a screwdriver in the other end. The ball came right off. I replaced the ball with a sanwa ball and the buttons with sanwa buttons. I also changed the stock switches with cherry switches so the stick flows better. I didn't change the spring because I didn't know what size I needed.

Good call on using a hot air gun to soften the glue, I didn't think of that at the time and went straight for the Dremel option. I've got some different switches (Chen Xiao Microswitches) from Arcade World UK. I've not tried those out yet as the levers need trimming down before they can be fitted.

Do you guys think its worth changing the spring and the switches? I am getting a list together for the focusattack sale tomorrow and want to get everything I need to mod my NGX sticks.

I don't know about the springs (yet) but my cherry switches made my stick more sensitive and fluid. It's easier to pull off fighting moves. I also had to salvage the lever arms from the stock switches and put them in the cherry switches because the damn things were supposed to come with them but didn't.

In my opinion changing the stock spring over to Seimitsu LS-56 on my stick has made an improvment. You can see just how much the stock spring compresses under the weight of a D cell battery. I've got some different switches, although I've not fitted them yet. I'm going to take my stick apart again and look at the actuator as I think that could be improved. I might try interlocking the stock and LS-56 springs and see if that stiffens things up some more.

I might try that custom LS Spring because I don't think they have the stock LS spring at paradise arcade, one not on the microswitches I have been doing some research OMRON microswitches are used in JLF sticks so its not like they are no name. I migth just try and swap spring before I go and do the switches
