Hiya! ^_^ So I really like brawlers a la Final Fight and was wondering if any of you had some interesting suggestions as to alternate games in the genre. I appreciate vibrant graphics/setpieces and variety. Already big fan of The Punisher and AVSP ^_^.

You mean just arcade beat em ups in general. I love those type of games. Aside from the games that you mentioned, some of my favorites are:
Cadillacs and Dinosaurs Captain Commando Dungeons and Dragons Knights of the Round Vendetta Violent Storm Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles The Simpsons Warriors of Fate X-Men
Cadillacs and Dinosaurs is probably my favorite from the list. You should check that out if you haven't already.

I have, thx! ^_^ It's really good. Shame that there's no MAME for NFX though because TMNT is pure nostalgia! ^_^

There's also a somewhat obscure arcade beat em up called "Hook". It's based on the movie which has nothing to do with brawling, but it's actually a pretty good beat em up in my mind.

What Mutation Nation and Burning Fight for the Heo Geo - both are up there in my mind (especially the latter).

Mutation Nation is fun! Burning Fight I just can't get into although I love that they traded the stereotypical grimy american streets with a Japanese (or was it HK) street setting.

I like both Burning Fight and Mutation Nation, but I don't think they come close to the beat em ups that Capcom and Konami were pumping out in the arcades during the 90's. As far as Neo Geo beat em ups are concerned, I'd say that Sengoku 3 is the best.

Sengoku 3 is kinda like a 2D DMC-lite ^_^. I love it! Okay, it doesn't have the airborne gymnastics but y'know .

Knights of Valor is something else. Check it out if you're looking for a sick beat em up!

That *does* look like a sick game . I'll have to reinstall MAME for this though. Damn, I wish the NGX could run it .

I've never played Knights of Valour. I haven't even seen it in the arcades. Looks interesting. It somewhat reminds me of Warriors of Fate.

Having lived in Osaka, Japan for a year (which is the setting for Burning Fight) I can confirm it is authentic. I even visited the SNK HQ whilst I was there although they would not let me in. Boo.

Hey Neogenesis - I started playing cadillacs vs dinosaurs off the back of your recommendation. Awesome game - it had me laughing out loud in places.
Nothing beats picking up a ouzi and spraying bullets in all directions.

It's a fun beat em up with a lot of weapons to pick up. Another beat em up with a lot of weapons is Vendetta. You might like that one too if you haven't tried it already.
