As far as I understand, there isn't a way to know. Gotta roll the dice on it!

The jailbreak is using 500a firmware, reason is, 500 firmware is unplayable in the UK on composite out. The screen is blured and off center, credits chopped on ntsc and pal.
500a fixes these issues for us in the UK.
I have both versions 500 and 500a. I may do a video to show you.
This is how i know the jailbreak is using 500a firmware because i play on composite out and is perfect.
I also did a video for blaze, showing the issues at the time, as i had to get rid of my crt Tv due to the issues because i could not handle hdmi out quality and i needed a fix.

Does 500a show up as 500a on the firmware? or just show 500? and is there any other advantages of 500a over 500? (Still new....still waiting on my NGX)

yeah it will say 500a on the update.
Also on 500 firmware, once it has upgraded, i could not do the upgrade again as it stated already upgraded.
So 500a will bypass this and upgrade, or hence the jailbreak and then you can rollback if need be.
500a just fixes the off center issue on pal and ntsc composite out and fixes the picture from my knowledge, maybe some sound fixes too.

yeah, once you apply the jailbreak, you can rollback.

But only to v500/v500a. There's no going back to v370.

I have rolled back to 370 from 500 -500a and the jailbreak, using stewards images.
OMG may have tried this too with his Hi-res firmware fix.
Jailbreak all the way for me now. Im loving it.

Yeah, I have done this as well. It is dangerous unless you have the 337 motherboard, you risk bricking your system.
